So can you shed a bit more background on the diary? Is this a diary of someone else (such as your kids) or your own? I'm also curious as to the photos. I assume you are going out and taking pictures as you write the entries? Again, very fascinating!

So, to date myself in an instant, the entries are all mine from diaries I kept diligently as a girl. This is a project I planned to create long ago (delayed only by the lack of a laptop, until recently), conceived as more of a blog- as-art effort. I have multiple diaries, up through high school, and plan to continue posting in perpetuity. I have even approached some female friends to invite them to participate, aka sumbit their girlhood writings to me to post, as I am very interested in the subject matter and perscpective, particualrly since we may someday soon see the evaporation of the hand-written diary as a cultural artifact. I transcribe my diaries verbatim, errors and all. I also take all of the photographs, but need to start scanning "historical" images from family collections that would, i hope, bring the stories to life in a more compelling way.
I appreciate the feedback so much! I have been horrible at promoting this project, so it is uplifting to know that an auidence can and does exist for something like this!

LOL well hey, I was a kid in the 70s too so I'm dating myself as well. And you are right-on about the handwritten diary disappearing. Everything is so electronic now, especially with blogs, or worse yet, things like MySpace.

Yes I noticed the spelling errors and I think think that lends great credence to this whole idea of doing this project verbatim as you said. I really like the blog-as-art idea you are doing.

So what is like to go through your old diaries, emotionally? Does it make you yearn for the more innocent days?

And as for promoting your site, well I don't have a lot of readers on mine but I've linked your blog there.

Oh and I forgot to ask, so you kept diaries up through high school. So what about now? Do you do a high-tech version of life today?

I must confess that I have been rather entertained by going through the elementary school-age diaries!
It was hilarious to stumble upon the Steelers' Superbowl victory reference at the same time as the recent win. I think I am very fascinated by the way the entries reflect a state of mind at a particular age and time in history, one that seemed pretty focused on writing about life and capturing subtle details.

So it is fairly embryonic at this stage,
but here you go!

FPP, geesh you maintain a lot of blogs and websites! I checked out your online store, that is some very cool stuff. I also assume that is you in the pics playing the guitar? Now I see why the photos and your blogs are so nicely done, you are artistic! You definitely have the eye for great pictures.

I came across your other blog before but hadn't really commented. I left one for you over there concerning a crazy sign posting out in the 'Burbs.

And I can totally see you being fascinated by the old diaries. It's essentially your time capsule.

As for my blog, well, it's not really relevant to what you blog about lol! It's also a bit, um, frank.
