So, to date myself in an instant, the entries are all mine from diaries I kept diligently as a girl. This is a project I planned to create long ago (delayed only by the lack of a laptop, until recently), conceived as more of a blog- as-art effort. I have multiple diaries, up through high school, and plan to continue posting in perpetuity. I have even approached some female friends to invite them to participate, aka sumbit their girlhood writings to me to post, as I am very interested in the subject matter and perscpective, particualrly since we may someday soon see the evaporation of the hand-written diary as a cultural artifact. I transcribe my diaries verbatim, errors and all. I also take all of the photographs, but need to start scanning "historical" images from family collections that would, i hope, bring the stories to life in a more compelling way.
I appreciate the feedback so much! I have been horrible at promoting this project, so it is uplifting to know that an auidence can and does exist for something like this!
I must confess that I have been rather entertained by going through the elementary school-age diaries!
It was hilarious to stumble upon the Steelers' Superbowl victory reference at the same time as the recent win. I think I am very fascinated by the way the entries reflect a state of mind at a particular age and time in history, one that seemed pretty focused on writing about life and capturing subtle details.
So it is fairly embryonic at this stage,
but here you go!
